Chivas USA hire Fraser to lead the way in 2011

Chivas USA ushered in a new era on Tuesday by leaning on one of the steadiest figures in Major League Soccer, announcing Robin Fraser as the sixth full-time head coach in franchise history. Know how to trade forex online

The announcement ends a more than two-month search to replace Martín Vásquez, who was let go after his first season on the job and an 8-18-4 record with the Goats. The team failed to reach the postseason for the first time since their 2005 inaugural season under Vásquez, who came in as a highly sought-after assistant from Bayern Munich.

LA's Berhalter transitions into coaching role

When the Los Angeles Galaxy and Gregg Berhalter agreed to terms on a new contract, the club got more than just their stalwart defender back for the 2011 season, it also added a coach. Berhalter will return to the Galaxy for a third season with the club, but he'll also serve as an assistant coach as the club got a two-for-the-price-of-one deal in the two-time World Cup veteran.

“The offer that Bruce presented was that I would transition myself into a further career and take on this player/coach type of role and it really made sense,” Berhalter told MLSsoccer.com. “This is something that I could continue doing. That kind of swayed me right there. The idea that I'm kind of doing double duty this way and kind of transition myself into possibly my next career.”

On Tuesday the league announced the full rosters and coaching assignments for the showcase, scheduled for Jan. 7-11 at Central Broward Regional Park in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and it also added seven more college seniors and five non-college players to the list of players initially invited to the annual Combine.

The University of Louisville’s Ken Lolla will coach AdiZero with Rick Brownell of the Michigan Wolves, the University of Tulsa’s Tom McIntosh will coach AdiPure with Dave Smith of the North Atlantic Soccer Association, Seattle Pacific University’s Mark Collings will coach team Jabulani with Brian Quinn of San Diego SC, and Old Dominion’s Alan Dawson will coach team AdiPower with Brian Doyle of Council Rock Soccer Association and FC Bucks.
